Probably best known as the home of the Dartford crossing over the Thames from Essex, Dartford is part of Kent and has a population approaching 100,000. Situated 20 miles east of London, the M25 runs through the area, making it an ideal place for people commuting by car to other parts of Kent or into London. Dartford is connected to Thurrock in Essex, on the north side of the Thames, via two road tunnels and the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, together this is known as the Dartford Crossing. The bridge is the UK’s second-longest cable-supported road bridge, after the Second Severn Crossing.
